Who is this qualification for?

This Pearson BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services is designed for post-16 learners who wish to continue their post-16 education with applied learning to enable them to progress onto University, apprenticeship or direct entry into one of the many protective and public service roles in the UK such as:

Emergency Services (Police, Fire, Ambulance)

Armed Forces(British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force or Royal Marines)

Civil Service (Law, Prison Service, Border Force or Government)

University

The qualification is equivalent to Three A Levels, however instead of covering 3 separate subjects you will undertake a two-year bespoke full-time qualification which includes substantial personal and professional development opportunities.

Our staff, only teach you so your development and progression is our only focus.

What does this qualification cover?

The APST UPS Programme is split into three strands covering the following seven mandatory units and six specialist units:

  • Developing Personal Fitness Programmes

Practical Skills and Emergency Preparedness

  • Planning for and Responding to Emergency Incidents
  • Skills for Outdoor Activities and the Uniformed Protective Services
  • Expedition Skills
  • Criminal Investigation Procedures and Practice

You must actively participate in all lessons, practical tasks and extra-curricular activities. This includes helping during breaks and lunchtimes and assisting with breakfast and after-school clubs.

Attendance and punctuality are essential; if you are not in class, joining in with practical courses or trips and visits, you will not acquire the necessary skills to become a successful member of Protective Services.
